The short answer
ChatGPT connects to Dropbox through the Dropbox app: open Plugins in the sidebar, select Dropbox, install it and sign in. It searches, summarizes and compares your files and, asking you first, moves, copies, deletes and restores them, saves files, creates shared links and file requests, and sends Dropbox Sign requests. It works change by change and cannot undo a set of changes. To clean up or move a whole Dropbox as one change with undo, ask The Drive AI directly.

How to connect ChatGPT to Dropbox
Install it from Plugins
Select Plugins in the ChatGPT sidebar (or Settings, Plugins), choose Dropbox, Install plugin, then Sign in with Dropbox. Dropbox says it works on every Dropbox plan.
Pick the right account
If your personal and work Dropbox accounts are paired, choose the one that holds the files when you sign in.
Use it in a chat
Type @Dropbox or choose it from the + menu, then ask. Connected folders also appear in Library.
Reconnect for write actions
Moving, deleting, shared links and file requests arrived in March 2026. If you connected before that, disconnect and connect again to get them.

Troubleshooting
ChatGPT's Dropbox connector not working?
ChatGPT cannot see files you can see in Dropbox
Check which Dropbox account is connected: with paired personal and work accounts, ChatGPT sees only the one you chose at sign-in. Disconnect and sign in again with the other.
ChatGPT will not move, delete or share Dropbox files
Write actions came in a March 2026 update, and existing connections have to be reconnected to get them. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin may also have turned those actions off.
Dropbox will not connect for a work account
A Dropbox team admin can block third-party apps, and a ChatGPT Enterprise admin can stop work-domain accounts connecting from personal workspaces. Ask whichever admin applies.
Dropbox folders do not show in Library
Library needs several Dropbox actions enabled, including search, list folder and fetch. If a workspace admin disabled any of them, browsing breaks while chat search may still work.
It says connected but returns nothing
Start a new chat with Dropbox selected and ask for one specific file. If that fails, disconnect in Plugins and on dropbox.com under Settings, Apps, then connect again.
