E-Signature Disclosure & Consent

Last updated: May 27, 2026

The Drive AI provides electronic signature capabilities that allow you to sign, send, and manage documents electronically. This disclosure explains how electronic signatures work on our platform, your rights, and our commitment to document integrity and legal compliance.

Legal Framework

Electronic signatures are legally binding under the following laws:

  • United States:The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN Act, 15 U.S.C. § 7001 et seq.) and the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA), adopted by 49 states and Washington, D.C.
  • European Union: The eIDAS Regulation (EU No. 910/2014), which establishes a legal framework for electronic signatures across EU member states.
  • Other jurisdictions: Equivalent legislation exists in Canada (PIPEDA), the United Kingdom (Electronic Communications Act 2000), Australia (Electronic Transactions Act 1999), and most other developed nations.

Under these laws, an electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect, validity, or enforceability solely because it is in electronic form.

Your Consent

Before signing any document on The Drive AI, you will be presented with an electronic signature disclosure and asked to affirmatively consent to:

  • Using electronic signatures as the legal equivalent of handwritten signatures
  • Conducting the transaction electronically
  • Receiving documents and notices electronically

Your consent is recorded with a timestamp and the IP address from which it was given. This information becomes part of the permanent audit trail for the document.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Withdraw consent at any time before completing your signature by declining the signing request. Withdrawing consent does not affect the legality of signatures already applied.
  • Request a paper copy of any document you have signed electronically by contacting the sender of the document.
  • Decline to sign electronically and request an alternative signing method from the document sender.
  • Access your signed documents at any time through the completion email you receive after all parties have signed.

How We Ensure Document Integrity

The Drive AI uses the following measures to protect the integrity of electronically signed documents:

Document Hashing

When a document is sent for signing, a SHA-256 cryptographic hash of the original document is computed and stored. This hash acts as a digital fingerprint — any modification to the document after signing began would produce a different hash, providing tamper evidence.

Audit Trail

Every action in the signing lifecycle is recorded in an immutable audit log, including:

  • When the document was sent for signing
  • When each recipient viewed the document
  • When consent to electronic signing was given (with IP address)
  • When each field was filled or signed
  • When each recipient completed or declined signing
  • When the document was completed by all parties

Certificate of Completion

When all parties have signed, a Certificate of Completion is appended to the final signed PDF. This certificate contains the full audit trail, signer details, consent records, and document hashes — permanently embedded in the document itself.

Secure Storage

Signed documents are stored in a secure, isolated storage location separate from regular workspace files. This ensures that the canonical signed copy cannot be accidentally deleted or modified through normal file operations.

Identity Verification

Document senders may optionally require identity verification before a recipient can sign. When enabled, recipients must verify their identity by entering a one-time code sent to their email address. This provides an additional layer of assurance that the person signing is the intended recipient.

System Requirements

To sign documents electronically on The Drive AI, you need:

  • A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
  • An internet connection
  • An email address to receive signing requests and completed documents

No software installation or account creation is required to sign documents. Signers access documents through a secure, unique link sent via email.

Document Types

Electronic signatures on The Drive AI are suitable for most business documents, including contracts, agreements, NDAs, offer letters, invoices, and similar records.

Certain document types may require handwritten signatures or notarization under specific jurisdictions, including but not limited to wills, certain real estate deeds, court orders, and documents requiring notarial acts. Consult legal counsel if you are unsure whether a document is eligible for electronic signature.
