How do you split a PDF?
Open the PDF in the split tool above, select the pages you want by clicking, shift-clicking or dragging across the thumbnails, then click Extract & Download. The selected pages are saved, in their original order, as a new file called split-pages.pdf. Your original stays untouched, and the work happens in your browser.

Questions answered
Can I extract pages that are not next to each other?
Yes. Click any pages you want, in any combination. Shift-click adds every page between your last click and this one, and dragging across thumbnails selects a run in one motion. The new PDF keeps the pages in the order they had in the original, whatever order you clicked them in.
Can I split a PDF into several files at once?
Not in one pass. Each extraction produces one file from the pages you selected. To make several files, change the selection and extract again: the PDF stays loaded between runs, so you do not need to drop it in a second time. Rename each download before the next one so they do not overwrite.
Does splitting change my original file?
No. The tool reads your PDF, copies the selected pages into a brand-new document and downloads that; the file on your disk is never written to. Pages are copied as they are, so the text, images and links on them look the same as before, with no re-compression and no loss of quality.
Is there a page or file size limit?
The tool sets no page count or file size cap of its own. The whole PDF is read into your browser's memory and every page gets a thumbnail, so a scan with hundreds of high-resolution pages can take a while to render and may be slow on a phone or an older laptop.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Splitting runs in this browser tab with the pdf-lib library, and the thumbnails are drawn on your device with PDF.js. The PDF is never sent to a server, so nothing is stored after you close the tab, which makes the tool usable for statements, contracts and other private files.
