How to turn on Dropbox's connector for Claude, what it can and cannot do, how to fix it when it stops working, and how to give Claude batch changes with undo across every drive.
The short answer
Claude connects to Dropbox through a connector built by Dropbox: in a chat, open the + menu, add the Dropbox connector and sign in. It searches and reads your files, creates text files and folders, copies, moves and deletes, and makes shared links and file requests. It works one action at a time, has no undo, and can only save text files. For cleaning up or moving a whole Dropbox as one change with undo, add The Drive AI as a second connector.

How to connect Claude to Dropbox
Add it in a chat
Open the + menu in the message box, choose Add connectors, pick Dropbox, sign in and continue. You connect once and it works across claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Cowork and Claude Code.

Team or Enterprise: the owner allows it
An owner adds Dropbox in Organization settings, Connectors, and can make the plugin available or required for members.
Dropbox teams: check it is not blocked
A Dropbox team admin can block apps under Admin console, Products, Dropbox, Settings, Integrations. Blocking does not disconnect people already connected.

What Claude's Dropbox connector can and cannot do
It can
- Search Dropbox and list folders
- Read and preview files, and get their details
- Create text files and folders, and copy, move and delete files
- Create shared links and list existing ones
- Create file requests so other people can upload to you
It cannot
- Save images, PDFs or other non-text files from Claude: text files only
- Change more than one item per action, or undo a change
- Find duplicate files or measure what is using your space
- Reach Google Drive, OneDrive or SharePoint in the same request
Troubleshooting
Claude's Dropbox connector not working?
Claude says it cannot find a file you can see in Dropbox
Check which Dropbox account is connected: if you have linked personal and work accounts, the connector sees only the one you signed in with. Reconnect with the other account if needed.
Dropbox is missing from Connectors, or refuses to connect
On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, the owner has to allow the connector first. On a Dropbox team, an admin may have blocked third-party apps in the Admin console.
"OAuth access token has been revoked"
Disconnect Dropbox in Claude, remove Claude from your Dropbox account's connected apps, and connect again. Some users report the error persisting after that (Dropbox community thread), in which case contact Dropbox support.
Claude will not save a PDF or image to Dropbox
The connector can only save text-based files such as .txt, .md and .html. Save other files from Claude to your computer, then upload them to Dropbox.
You connected Dash and file actions do not work
Dropbox Dash has its own connector for searching across Dash sources, and it does not manage files. For moving, copying or sharing Dropbox files, connect the Dropbox connector itself.
Cowork cannot read files in your local Dropbox folder
Online-only files are not on the disk until opened, and users report Cowork failing to read Dropbox folders on macOS. Use the Dropbox connector or plugin instead of pointing Cowork at the synced folder, or make the folder available offline.

Can Claude access my Dropbox?

Not through Dropbox's connector; deleted files are restored from Dropbox's deleted files. Through The Drive AI connector, one request reverses a whole change.
