ChatGPT reaches OneDrive through OpenAI's SharePoint app, which covers OneDrive for work or school and not personal OneDrive. Open Plugins, connect SharePoint and sign in with your work account; a Microsoft admin may need to approve it first. It searches, summarizes and compares the files your account can open and, where an admin has enabled them, creates folders, uploads and updates files, and manages sharing links. For personal OneDrive, or for moving and archiving files as one change with undo, ask The Drive AI directly.

How to connect ChatGPT to OneDrive
Connect SharePoint in Plugins
Open Plugins (or Apps in older versions), find SharePoint, choose Connect and sign in with your work or school Microsoft account. The same app covers OneDrive for work or school.
A Microsoft admin approves it
If you see that ChatGPT needs permission only an admin can grant, a Microsoft Entra admin approves the permission set once. Microsoft shows it as one set, with no per-permission choices.
A ChatGPT admin enables actions
Approving permissions in Microsoft does not switch on the matching ChatGPT actions. A workspace admin enables SharePoint and chooses which actions members may use.
Reconnect after changes
After an admin changes permissions or actions, disconnect and connect again so ChatGPT picks them up.

- Connect a personal OneDrive: OpenAI says personal accounts are not supported
- Move, rename or delete files: OpenAI does not list these actions
- Undo a set of changes, or find duplicate files
- Move files into Google Drive or Dropbox
Troubleshooting
ChatGPT's OneDrive connector not working?
"ChatGPT needs permission to access resources in your organization that only an admin can grant"
Your tenant requires admin consent for this app. A Microsoft Entra admin approves the permission request once; then a ChatGPT workspace admin enables SharePoint, and you reconnect.
Your personal OneDrive will not connect
The SharePoint app only works with work or school accounts. For files in a personal OneDrive, upload them to the chat, or connect the OneDrive to The Drive AI, which works with personal accounts.
AADSTS90094 or AADSTS65001 when signing in
Both are Microsoft consent errors: the app asks for permissions your account cannot grant on its own. An admin grants tenant-wide consent. If AADSTS90094 persists after that, the admin checks whether the app requires user assignment.
AADSTS53003: access blocked by Conditional Access
This is a Conditional Access policy, not a consent problem. Your Microsoft admin adjusts the device, location or app rules in the policy that blocked the sign-in.
An action fails, such as uploading a file
The action is not enabled for your workspace, the Microsoft grant was removed, the wrong account is connected, or your account cannot open that item. Reconnect after any permission change.

It sits beside OpenAI's SharePoint app for ChatGPT rather than replacing it. Connecting OneDrive to The Drive AI comes with Max and Team; files in The Drive AI workspace work on every plan.

Prompts for OneDrive
In my OneDrive, find files nobody has changed since before 2023 and propose moving them into an Archive folder, by year. Leave everything in Documents/Current alone.
Old files get out of the way as one change you can check and reverse.
What is taking up the most space in my OneDrive? List the biggest folders and any file over 500 MB.
Every folder is measured at once, and nothing changes until you decide what goes.

Can ChatGPT access OneDrive?
For work and school accounts, yes, through OpenAI's SharePoint app, which covers OneDrive for work or school. Personal OneDrive accounts are not supported by it.
Can ChatGPT organize my OneDrive?
Partly. Where an admin enables them, it can create folders, upload and update files, and manage sharing links. OpenAI does not list moving, renaming or deleting files, which is most of what organizing means.
Which ChatGPT plans include the SharePoint and OneDrive app?
OpenAI says availability depends on your plan and does not list tiers. Admin-managed indexed sync of SharePoint and OneDrive is limited to eligible Enterprise and Edu workspaces.
How do I use personal OneDrive with ChatGPT?
Not through OpenAI's app. Upload the files to the chat, or connect the OneDrive to The Drive AI and ask it there; on a Business or Enterprise workspace, The Drive AI can also be added to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server.
