Search Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox at Once
The lease is somewhere. It might be the scan in Google Drive, the attachment someone saved to Dropbox, or the draft in OneDrive. Three search boxes, three sets of results, and none of them tells you which copy is the signed one.

The short answer
Connect each drive to The Drive AI once and they appear as folders in one tree, so one question searches all of them. The Drive AI matches names first, then words inside documents using each platform's own search, reads the likely matches, and tells you which file it is, where it lives and what it says. Ask it directly, or from Claude or ChatGPT with the connector. Nothing is moved or changed by searching.
Ask it
What you type, and what comes back
Find the signed lease for 14 Elm Street. It could be in Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox. Tell me where it is and what the monthly rent is.

Step by step
- 1
Find by name
Looks for files named like the lease in every connected drive
- 2
Search inside
Searches inside documents for "14 Elm Street"
- 3
Read the matches
Reads the likely matches to tell the signed copy from the drafts
What comes back
Three candidates in two drives:
Dropbox/Leases/2025/Elm St lease signed.pdf
Google Drive/Scans/scan_0091.pdf (mentions 14 Elm Street)
OneDrive/Drafts/Elm lease v2.docx
The signed copy is the Dropbox file, signed 2 March 2025.
Monthly rent: $2,450 (section 3, page 2).
scan_0091.pdf is the same lease, unsigned.
An example run. Searching reads and lists; it never moves, renames or shares anything.

What it needs
From Claude or ChatGPT
Prefer to stay in Claude or ChatGPT? Add The Drive AI as a connector, then paste the same prompt. Without it, neither has a way to reach these drives as a batch.
Claude.ai and Claude Desktop
Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the server URL. Connectors are on your account, so the desktop app gets it too.
ChatGPT
Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server, then paste the server URL and sign in. Changing files from ChatGPT needs a Business or Enterprise workspace, where an admin publishes the server; on Pro, custom servers can only read.

Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, connected in The Drive AI
The job runs on your Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox where the files already are, so that account is connected in The Drive AI first. Working in connected drives comes with Max and Team. Files you keep in The Drive AI workspace work on any plan.
See plansWhat asks first, and what can be undone
Reading and searching change nothing. By default, up to 20 moves, renames or new folders apply at once; anything larger, and anything that trashes, edits or moves a file between drives, comes back as a preview with counts and samples for you to confirm. An applied change is undone as a whole with one request. Moves and renames reverse as long as the file has not changed since; trashed files come back from Google Drive, personal OneDrive and Dropbox, and from work OneDrive or SharePoint only where an admin has allowed restores.
Then ask
Follow-up prompts
Move the signed lease into Properties/14 Elm Street in Google Drive and trash the unsigned scan.
Moving between drives and trashing both come back as a preview first, and the original stays in Dropbox's trash until the copy is checked.
List every lease in all three drives that ends in 2027.
An answer across many documents is handed to The Drive AI agent, which reads each one into a table. That uses one agent task.
Which of my drives has the most files I have not touched in three years?
Each drive's outline comes back with counts and ages, which is where a cleanup usually starts.
Tips and limits
Name words that are written in the file
An address, an invoice number or a person's name finds a document faster than a description of it. Searching inside documents uses each platform's own index, so exact words do best.
Topic search is not semantic on connected drives yet
On Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, documents are found by their words, not by meaning. "The agreement with the landlord" will not find a file that only says "lease". Files kept in The Drive AI workspace are searched by meaning as well.
It tells you when it could not look everywhere
Search inside documents reports how many of the files in scope were searchable, for example "1,940 of 2,100 searchable". A file a platform has not indexed may not show up by its contents, though it still shows up by its name.
FAQ
Common questions
Can I search Google Drive and OneDrive at the same time?
Not in either app. Google Drive and OneDrive each search only themselves. With both connected to The Drive AI they appear as folders in one tree, so a single question searches both (and SharePoint and Dropbox), and the answer says which drive each file is in.
Does it read scanned PDFs?
Usually. Text PDFs, Word and Excel files, and Google Docs and Sheets are read directly; scans are read with OCR when you ask about them, and a poor scan may come back with little text. For answers across many scans, The Drive AI agent reads scanned pages as images.
How large a file can it read?
Up to 50 MB per file, read in sections so long documents do not have to fit in one go. On paid plans, audio and video up to 200 MB are transcribed the first time they are read.
Does searching change anything in my drives?
No. Finding, listing and reading never move, rename, share or delete a file, and they do not use assistant tasks.
Ask it here, or from Claude or ChatGPT.
The same sentence works in The Drive AI, and in Claude or ChatGPT with our connector. Either way, a large change comes back as a preview for you to confirm, and anything applied can be undone as a whole.
